Biography
Talha Kaim Khani is a researcher and Lab Supervisor in the Department of Telecommunication Engineering at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, with more than 10 years of overall experience spanning academia, laboratory leadership, telecommunications, and optical systems research.
He is currently contributing to an Ericsson collaborative research project on segmented MachβZehnder modulators (SEMZMs) at Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna, Pisa, Italy. His work focuses on device-level modelling, phase-shifter segmentation, electro-optic characterization, and high-speed optical modulation performance.
His research experience includes integrated photonics, optical communication, photodetectors, LEDs, visible light communication (VLC), optical delay lines, bandwidth optimization, and photonic device simulation. His work on a reconfigurable optical delay line reported a 67% improvement in tunability while reducing controller count and power consumption.
At MUET, he teaches and supervises practical work in Data Communication Networks and Optical Communication Systems, conducts demonstrations using switches, routers, firewalls, lasers, photodiodes, OTDRs and fiber-splicing equipment, and supervises undergraduate final-year research projects in optical networks, photonic systems, and communication engineering.
He has also served as Department Timetable Coordinator, contributed to quality assurance and institutional review activities as a member of the QOBE team, and provided academic counselling and student support as a Class Advisor.
