Rizwan Ali Shah is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Telecommunication Engineering at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro, where he has served since August 2019, having joined the department as a Lecturer in July 2014.

Before moving into academia, he spent six years (2008–2014) as a Core Network Engineer in Technical Operations – Core Networks at Mobilink, Pakistan, working on live cellular network operations and maintenance, including international training on Huawei ATCA systems in Malaysia. His industry grounding also includes earlier training as a BSS Engineer at Telenor Pakistan and an internship in the Communication Department of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Within the department, he plays an active service role: class advisor to numerous batches, industrial liaison since 2014 for arranging internships, jobs and alumni connections, a member of the Departmental Scholarship Committee, the Academic Council, the Board of Studies, and the Thesis Committee, and the departmental focal person for the Prime Minister's Laptop Scheme. He also heads the IEEE MUET Faculty Chair within the FEECE faculty, and holds professional membership of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and the IEEE Communication Society.

He is a PhD candidate at MUET, Jamshoro, alongside an M.E. in Communication Systems & Networks (2017) and a B.E. in Telecommunication Engineering (2007), both from MUET, as well as an MBA in Management (2010) and an LLB (2014) from the University of Sindh. Since 2016 he has been an HEC/Sindh HEC-affiliated master trainer, regularly serving as a resource person for Faculty Professional Development Programs (FPDP) at MUET, LUMHS, SABS University and other institutions across Sindh.

His research and publications span wireless sensor networks, cellular spectrum management, 5G communication systems, medical image segmentation, and cybersecurity, including a co-authored book chapter on intrusion detection for cybersecurity.
