Prof. Dr. Faisal Karim Shaikh is Chairman and Professor in the Department of Telecommunication Engineering at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro. His research centers on wireless communication systems, with particular emphasis on wireless sensor networks, ad hoc and mobile networks, and the Internet of Things (IoT), including delay-aware and energy-efficient information delivery mechanisms for resource-constrained environments.

He earned his B.E. in Computer System Engineering (2001) and M.E. in Communication Systems and Networks (2003) from MUET, before completing his Ph.D. in Computer Science at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany, in 2010. He subsequently completed a Post-Doctoral fellowship at the Science and Technology Unit, University of Umm Al-Qura, Makkah, Saudi Arabia, in 2015.

Dr. Shaikh joined MUET as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer System and Software Engineering in 2001, progressing through Assistant Professor and, from 2010, Assistant Professor in the Department of Telecommunication Engineering. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 2012 and to Professor in 2017, and has twice served as Chairman of the department — from August 2015 and again from December 2024 to the present.

He has been recognized in Stanford University and Elsevier's "World's Top 2% Scientists" list for both 2023 and 2024, and has received the Outstanding Performance Recognition Award from MUET (2023) and the Best Research Paper Award from HEC Pakistan (2017/2019). He has undertaken Erasmus+ staff mobility visits to Universität Klagenfurt (Austria, 2024), the University of Milano (Italy, 2022) and the University of Malaga (Spain, 2019), and has been repeatedly honoured for organizing the IMTIC and WSN4DC international conferences at MUET.

Dr. Shaikh has supervised 4 PhD and 26 M.E. research theses, and has secured research funding from sources including the IEEE Internet for All Call, IEEE EPICS/HAC programs, HEC's SRGP scheme, the National ICT R&D Fund of Pakistan, Erasmus+ KA171, and the King Abdul-Aziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), Saudi Arabia. He serves as an Editorial Board Member of the International Journal of Ubiquitous Computing and has chaired or served on the Technical Program Committee of numerous IEEE and EAI international conferences.
