Biography
Abdul Latif is an Associate Professor in the Department of Telecommunication Engineering at Mehran University of Engineering & Technology (MUET), Jamshoro. He joined MUET in October 2013 and is involved in teaching undergraduate and master's engineering courses, supervising undergraduate final-year research projects, carrying out research activities, coordinating internship programs, examination work, and participating in conferences, seminars, and workshops.
Before joining MUET, he served as Senior Engineer, Switching Network-III, Hyderabad at Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) from February 2008 to September 2013. His responsibilities included operation and maintenance of transit exchanges and RDLUs, switch and power-plant operations, traffic studies involving ASR, CFR and GoS, and implementation of operational instructions and reporting requirements.
From June 2001 to February 2008, he worked with PTCL as Assistant Divisional Engineer / Engineer OMC Hyderabad, where he was responsible for operation and maintenance of EWSD exchanges, database management, numbering plans, routing tables, fault management, and coordination with other telecom operators. He also contributed to the successful implementation of the 10-digit National Numbering Plan across Sindh outside Karachi.
Earlier in his academic career, he served as a Lecturer in the Electrical Department at NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi from December 1996 to June 2001, teaching undergraduate engineering subjects and conducting laboratory classes.
His academic qualifications include a PhD in Optical Engineering from Beijing University of Posts & Telecommunications, China; a Master of Engineering in Communication & System Networks from MUET; an MBA in Finance from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), Karachi; and a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical Engineering from MUET.
